The Sustaiable Otsego listserv provides lively information, commentary, and exchanges by several hundred subscribers on sustainability issues, including fracking for natural gas, alternative energies, food production, conservation, regional planning, local politics, and up-coming events.
Some simple rules for the listserv: Please keep your posts to a minimum. Please respond privately to other subscribers concerning matters not of general interest to the list. Restraint is a virtue. People hate cluttered in boxes. Above all, avoid personality attacks, lengthy, rambling commentaries unrelated to sustainability, or brief replies (thank yous, etc.) with little or no added value.
Conversely, if you have something new, including an opinion or a useful link which you think contributes even in a small way to our understanding of how to promote sustainability in our area and is of interest to the larger group, don't hestitate to post it. This is what we need to know.
If you are overwhelmed by the volume, there are digest and web-only options: to adjust your options go to this link, which is also found at the bottom of each email from the list: https://lists.riseup.net/www/suboptions/sustainableotsego
